The Chinese firm has introduced the new Redmi 9i and places it in the first levels of the mid-range, closer to affordable mobiles than to the most powerful.

Mi tends to blur the line that separates mid-range phones from low-end phones due to its aggressive prices, and the case of the new Redmi 9i follows the same path as previous models. We have in hand a device with the Helio G25 at the helm and with two storage options for one of RAM: 4GB / 64GB and 4GB / 128GB, both with microSD.

On the screen, we find a 6.53-inch LCD panel with a 20: 9 ratio and HD + resolution, which leaves us 1,600 x 720 pixels. The screen is cut at the top with a notch in the shape of a water drop which hides a 5,000 mAh battery with a 10W charge. In connectivity: dual 4G, WiFi 4, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, headphone jack, and micro-USB port are available.

We do not have a fingerprint reader on this Xiaomi Redmi 9i, but we do have facial recognition on its 5-megapixel front camera. On the back, a 13-megapixel sensor to complete the photographic experience. This model comes with splash protection and is powered by Android 10 under MIUI 12.

The new phone comes in two storage versions, and hence there are two prices—the phone was released in India on September 18.

Xiaomi says goodbye to 2020 by launching a new smartphone from its cheaper family, the Redmi 9. It is a mobile phone in which if something stands out is the battery. And it is neither more nor less than up to 6,000 mAh of capacity.

Mi’s new cheap mobile boasts a textured finish on its back, where we find four cameras housed in a rectangular module.

The mobile front has a 6.53” FHD + Dot Drop screen, which provides an optimal visual experience thanks to reducing the frames to the minimum expression. This screen, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3, has a brightness of 400 bits and a density of 395 dpi. With a 60 Hz refresh rate, it sports a 19.5: 9 aspect ratio.

Redmi 9 Power phone is the new eight-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 that reaches a speed of 2 GHz and is manufactured in 11 nm. Along with it, we have 4GB RAM of LPDDR4 type RAM and internal memory options of 64 GB or 128 GB.

Of course, you can use MicroSD cards to increase this storage by default.

Another significant change that we find in the phone compared to its range brothers is the addition of a 48 MP primary camera equipped with AI tools provided by the Qualcomm processor.

The front camera wears an 8 MP camera, and, as we have said a few lines further back, it is housed in a notch shaped like a drop of water.

The Xiaomi Redmi 9 Power has been officially presented in India. It can be purchased on December 22 in three colors: black, red, green, and blue, and in two different storage versions. These are the official prices:

  • Xiaomi Redmi 9 Power 4 + 64 GB : 10,999 Indian rupees.

The Worst

The Redmi Y3 by Xiaomi has a 6.26-inch HD + screen. Its aspect ratio is 19: 9 with a small notch for the front camera that is one of the strengths that this terminal brings. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5, to avoid scratches and breakage.

Inside the Redmi Y3 by Xiaomi, we find a Snapdragon 632 processor, an eight-core 14nm CPU, and accompanied by an Adreno 506 GPU. The brand offers two versions of 3 or 4 GB of RAM and 32 or 64 GB of internal storage. If we need to include more internal memory, we can expand this space with a MicroSD card, up to 512 GB.

There are not many doubts, even checking the website itself enabled for the new phone, that Redmi will base the promotion of the new Y3 on its power for selfies thanks to its 32 front megapixels that also have software blur and flash. The phone hides the odd surprise.

It has a rear dual-camera system, with 12 megapixels f / 2.2 for primary lens and 2 megapixels secondary for depth readings. This is bokeh. In addition to the video, we can reach 120fps if we lower the resolution to HD.

The Xiaomi Mi 9 is mi’s top range bet of the year 2019. It is a powerful model that comes with a careful design, with a large screen and very compact with a thickness of only 7.6 mm.

The screen of the Xiaomi Mi 9 has a size of 6.4 inches. Its small notch at the top is slightly larger than the teardrop-shaped ones; however, the other edges are very thin. As in previous models, we assume that Xiaomi will choose to protect the Mi9’s screen with Gorilla Glass 5. One of the novelties of this model is the integration of the fingerprint reader under the screen.

At the software level, Mi 9 has chosen the Android operating system in version 9.0 for this mobile. Of course, it is not a completely pure edition, but the smartphone works with an MIUI 10 customization layer. It mounts in the Redmi 9 a high-capacity 5,020 mAh battery compatible with 18-watt fast charging technology. It means that we can fully charge it in just over two hours.

The processor of the mi phone is an optimized MediaTek Helio G80, which offers a 207% improvement over its predecessor and is specially designed for good gaming performance. It works at a speed of 2.0 GHz and is accompanied by an ARM Mali G52 MC2 GPU that, to be honest, is not the most powerful on the market, but Xiaomi does not boast of it either.

The memory configuration is fixed at 3 or 4 GB of RAM and 32 or 64 GB of storage. It can extend with MicroSD cards of up to 512 GB.

As an entry-level smartphone with a versatile quad-camera setup, the Redmi 9 is perfect for capturing all those special moments. Whether for a quick photo, a group photo with a wide-angle, a close-up rich in detail or a beautiful portrait, this mi mobile covers all the possibilities. This is how your camera configuration looks:

  • 13MP wide-angle sensor with f / 2.2, AF, 1 / 3.06 ” sensor size, 1.12μm pixel size.
  • 8MP ultra wide-angle sensor and f / 2.2 aperture with 118º field of view, 1.12μm pixel size.

  • 2MP depth sensor with f / 2.4 aperture and 1.75μm pixel size.

At the video level, both with the front and rear cameras, we can save clips at 1080p and 30 fps and. Speaking of the front camera, it is an 8 MP sensor with an f / 2.0 aperture.

  • Xiaomi Redmi 9 (4 + 64GB) : 8,499 Indian rupees.

  • RAM & Storage: 2GB, 3GB & 32GB
  • Battery Capacity: 5000 mAh
  • Camera: 13 MP Primary Camera and 5 MP Front Camera
  • Processor: MediaTek Helio G25 Octa Core, 2 GHz
  • Finger Print: NO
  • Face Unlock: YES

The Best

  • Mammoth battery capacity
  • Pocket-friendly price tag
  • Splash proof

The Worst

  • No fingerprint sensor
  • Bulky device weighing 194grams

Since its price is below 10000 rupees, it should not surprise anyone that this new mi phone looks more measured specifications, necessary to reach this price.

There is no big news on the front of the phone. It is a 6.57″ inch HD+ screen with a 1600 x 720 px resolution and a 20: 9 format with a density of 269 dpi. It sports three colors, capacitive touch technology, and a brightness of 400 nits, in addition to the possibility of configuring different color profiles.

It is guaranteed for protection against blue light, so your eyes are cared for even after spending long hours using the phone at night.

As for the memory of the mobile, we have two versions: one with 2GB + 32GB of storage and another with 3 GB and the same internal storage. Luckily we can expand it by using MicroSD cards.

Inside, the MediaTek Helio G25 processor will be in charge of moving the most basic applications. It has a CPU manufactured in 12 nm with 8 Cortex A53 cores at 2 GHz included in the entry market.

In the photographic section, we cannot lose sight of the smartphone’s price; it’s only 10000 rupees. This is why it has only found a 13 MP rear camera with an f / 2.2 aperture. We can take photos of all kinds and record videos in Full HD, but we cannot demand wonders.

The same happens with a front camera housed in the notch in the shape of a raindrop that sports a 5 MP sensor with f / 2.2 aperture and records videos in 1080p.

At least we can use different AI tools to improve the quality of our photos by recognizing scenes.

Lastly, we have the great attraction of the Redmi 9A, a 5000 mAh battery with 10W fast charging that, taking into account the characteristics of the screen, should offer a range of more than 48 hours. Depending on the brand, we have a standby of 5000 hours, up to 38 hours of conversation, 168 hours of music playback, and 19 hours of video.

On paper, this surname refers to a dual camera on the back of the phone. It also introduces splash protection with P2i nano-protection, and an Aura X Grip design that makes the smartphone easier to grip.

The screen of the Redmi smartphone reaches dimensions of 6.22 inches and maintains the HD + resolution of the model on which it is based. With a 19:9 aspect ratio, we come across 1520 pixels high x 720 px wide that end up generating a density of 270 dpi

Other technical details of the Redmi 8A Dual screen are the compatibility with 24-bit colors, capacitive touch technology, a contrast ratio of 1500:1, and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection.

To all this, we must add a 2.5D glass design curved at the ends and different display modes (daylight, night, reading mode, standard mode, and manual color temperature adjustment).

Topping the mobile phone hardware, we find a Qualcomm CPU. This mi model uses a Snapdragon 439 configured with eight cores 4x 1.95 GHz and 4 x 1.45GHz, A53 + A53 that place the full speed almost at 2 GHz that, together with the GPU of the Adreno 505, offers decent performance, but not to get excited about. In fact, you won’t be able to run many high-requirement games on the Play Store.

Mi sells, as usual, the smartphone with different RAM and storage options. In this case, it is the same configuration as the one present in the Redmi 8, so no one should be surprised that we find ourselves with 2GB and 3GB RAM with single storage 32 GB option. The Redmi mobile allows MicroSD cards of up to 256 GB to increase the internal memory.

The great change of the mobile and the culprit of the surname “Dual” of the Redmi 8A is its new camera. The mobile goes from having a single lens to mounting a dual camera equipped with new AI functions to improve the quality of the photographs.

  • 13MP main sensor with five elements and F / 2.2 aperture as well as 1.12μm pixel size.
  • Supporting 2MP sensor with 3P lenses and F / 2.4 aperture featuring 1.75μm pixel size.

We can record clips at 1080p and 720p at a stable speed of 30 fps at the video level.

In front, housed in a notch in the shape of a drop of water, we have a camera equipped with an 8 MP sensor, f / 2.0 aperture, 1.12 μm pixel size. This camera also allows us to unlock the mobile with the face unlock feature.

Mi 8A Dual replicates the battery of the original model and mounts a 5,000 mAh battery in the smartphone. We also have 18W fast charging technology that allows us to fully charge this Redmi 8A Dual battery in less than two hours.

  • Xiaomi Redmi 8A Dual 2 + 32 GB : 6,999 Indian rupees.
  • Xiaomi Redmi 8A Dual 3 + 32 GB : 7,499 Indian rupees.

  • RAM & Storage: 2GB, 3GB, 4GB & 16GB, 32GB, 64GB
  • Battery Capacity: 4000mAh
  • Camera: 12-megapixel (f/2.2, 1.29-micron) + 2-megapixel and 8-megapixel (f/2.0)
  • Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 1.8GHz octa-core
  • Finger Print: YES
  • Face Unlock: YES

The Best

  • Great battery life
  • Good overall performance

The Worst

  • Lots of ads in MIUI
  • Disappointing low-light camera performance

The new Redmi 7 offers a slightly cleaner front than its predecessor. With an elongated screen with a 19: 9 ratio and a notch in the shape of a drop of water, like the Xiaomi Mi 9. Of course, although the edges are not excessive they are not as small as in more expensive models.

In the back area, we have a double camera and a fingerprint sensor.

Redmi has implemented in this Redmi 7 the Snapdragon 632, a processor that replaces the already classic Snapdragon 625.

We have three configurations, where what will change will be the RAM and storage. The most basic version has 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage, a very affordable model but with really limited features. In second place is the 3GB and 32GB model, while the most advanced will have 4GB and 64GB of storage, a model that already falls into a price range closer to what is considered a mid-range. Fortunately, the new Redmi 7 has a hybrid slot, so we can use either dual SIM or add a microSD card.

For the camera, we have a 12-megapixel main lens with an f / 2.2 aperture and 1.12um pixels, accompanied by a two-megapixel secondary lens to be able to take photos with portrait and bokeh mode. For the front, we have 8 megapixels accompanied by the traditional beauty and artificial intelligence mode.

All three will use the same screen, 6.26 inches with a 19: 9 ratio and HD + resolution, 1520 x 720 px. This will be especially relevant given that the battery remains at 4000 mAh and has a fast charge of 5V / 2A, although no USB C port. This is one of the few mi models that still use the micro-USB.

  • Redmi 7 (2GB / 16GB): 7,499 rupees
